(This is sort of inspired by Mignuna's "Big. Fake. Boobs." article; I'd been pondering this for a while, but her post was a catalyst for me to make public my own observations.)

So why is it that women's boobs get all the attention? And I don't just mean getting stared at, I mean being talked about. Yes, a lot of men (myself included) enjoy the occasional lingering gander at a well-formed, bountiful bosom, but that is far from the only interesting thing about a woman. I, for one, am actually partial to a nicely shaped eyebrow (well, a set of them, I suppose.) I know women do pay some amount of attention to making sure they don't have eyebrow hair getting tangled in their bangs and such, and indeed many women go so far as to remove fully 3/4 or even more of their natural eyebrows. This is, in my opinion, almost uniformly a mistake. Okay, there are a few pathological cases where eyebrows may become confused with overgrown back hair, but let's not concern ourselves with those. A little shaping, a little maintaining, and you have a facial element both functional and attractive.
The eyebrows of a lady can do much on their own to be intriguing and delightful. It's not something I would normally compliment specifically, but it is something I take note of.

And on the other hand (so to speak), there is an element of the female form that I think receives way too much attention: the fingernails. I have never understood why someone would pay through the nose to have a part of their body pampered so richly when that body part doesn't even have any nerve endings. I can appreciate the utility of having nails of a certain reasonable length; great for scratching, usable as an impromptu screwdriver, nice to have when you've got something stuck in your teeth, et cetera. But paying $75 or more to have them uniformly trimmed, lacquered, hardened, colored, and even decorated with little flowers? Ack! Who's even going to look at them anyway? GIve me a $1.29 pair of nail clippers and 3 minutes, and I've got all the nail care I think anyone should need, thank you very much.

Anyone else care to mention particular body elements that they feel are unduly neglected, or overly valued?

You have posed a timeless question for which I don't begin to understand the answer. If I am fortunate enough to go to Heaven when I die and I get to speak to God, this is the first question on my list for Him.

All I know is, I love to see a full-figured woman. My Joe User blog is dedicated to an English teacher I "had" (in the nice way) 30 years ago, who has been locked in my fantasies ever since. If you're interested, read about it at:

bravo !. my eyebrows are light (the way my hair is when it's not dyed red), and prefer to leave them to their own devices, so to speak.

again, i agree. the power of a seductively-arched brow should never be underestimated !

another good point. i paradoxically have the very strong, easy to grow fingernails apparently sought by women the world over. whilst i do like to keep my hands tidy and clean, i usually cut my nails quite short or else they interfere with my keyboard use !. i'm so practical !

me too. plus a good stiff-bristled nail brush. ahhh. that's the stuff !

now that you mention it ... i find overly muscular men repellant, and i have never understood the attraction some women have towards the whole "bigger is better" thing as far as 'brawn' is concerned. body builders remind me of those beetles that can't get back up unless you flip them over. ewwwwww.

great article, citahellion

OK . . . now that mignuna has cleansed my palate of the above creepiness, I will tell you that I love a guy with a bit of a gut. A soft little tummy (no man boobs, please) is so adorable to me. I love it!

ha! That's good. No musclebound guys for you.

Hmm... while reassuring (since my own abdominal region is rather untoned), it also seems a bit odd. Oh well, I'll get used to it.

well, i think it's more about touch than sight, actually. i'm with texas wahine. i think a bit of a tummy shows that a man knows how to live. that he's not too vain or self-involved. i like it ! i like it !

What ever happened to the well honed appreciation of finely shaped ankles? Or is that for horses?

What about a woman's décolletage (not sure if you can actually apply that to anatomy, more a fashion term, but you know the area inclusive of the lower neck, collar and upper chest. That bit), other than the lips its the only part of the female form that can inspire the desire for intimacy without the inevitable slide towards the profane.

The small of the back is also underappreciated, although not by all fashion designers.

I'm picking up on a pattern here. Most of my preferential female body parts are areas of transition. Not the loci of desire, but the areas immediately adjacent.

Anyone here have a preference for anticipation? (even though i have been notoriously inept at that subtle sexual art)

I agree with that, but I prefer a nice, squeezable tush. As far as female features, what I have had complimented more than anything else is my eyes. Also, my voice (speaking, not just singing). I was told recently that there is a sparkle in my voice that matches the sparkle in my eyes (maybe it was twinkle, I don't remember, and that was yesterday!).
